Get Your HVAC System Ready to Spring Forward

March 1, 2016 | Blog

When you spring forward with Daylight Saving Time this year, use the time change as a reminder that you should also get your HVAC system ready for this summer’s service. Here are some tasks to make sure your air conditioner or heat pump will be in top shape when the season’s temperatures begin to rise.

  • Test the system — Briefly turn on your cooling system to check its operation. Leave it on long enough to confirm that it is producing cool air and that it isn’t showing any obvious signs of problems. Write down any observations and have them on hand for when your HVAC pro visits to do preventive maintenance.
  • Change the air filters — Start the season with fresh, clean air filters in your cooling system. The filter should be inside a slot in the HVAC unit. Remove the old filter and slide the new one into place. Even if the old filter still looks clean, it is a good idea to begin each cooling season with a new filter.
  • Clean the outdoor unit — Clean around the outdoor unit of your cooling system. Remove any buildup of dirt, mud, leaves, sticks, grass, or other material that could block the vents and interfere with airflow. Pay particular attention to the vents and remove any debris that has gotten inside the unit. Clean the exterior of the cabinet with a mild cleaner or with warm water and detergent.
  • Call for preventive maintenance — Schedule a preventive maintenance appointment with your local trusted HVAC service provider. Regular maintenance is the best way to keep your cooling equipment working properly and its highest level of efficiency. Make sure the ductwork is inspected for condition and proper seals. Your HVAC pro will be able to make minor repairs, adjustments, and calibrations that will keep your cooling system working properly all season long.

Great Company

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
