HVAC Considerations for Fall Hosts

October 12, 2017 | Blog

HVAC Considerations for Fall HostsThe fall season is a fantastic time for homeowners to host friends and family, whether it’s for a momentary weekend get-together or one of the upcoming holidays. Before you have guests over, though, it’s important that your HVAC system is running smoothly and properly. To help you out, here are some HVAC considerations for you to make:

Schedule an Annual Inspection

Hiring a professional technician to inspect your heating and cooling equipment will extend its life and help maintain its energy efficiency. If it’s been a while since your last inspection, the fall season is the perfect time to do it. This includes your heating system, which you’ll be needing in the coming months.

Replace the Air Filter

You certainly don’t want to host guests in your home if the air quality isn’t great. Your HVAC system’s air filter prevents allergens from being recirculated into your air but clogs up over time. The filter should be checked every 1-3 months and replaced as necessary.

Lower the Thermostat

Since you’ll likely be cooking for your guests, the temperature in your home will rise. Although it’s never recommended to use your oven as a source of heat for your home, since it’s going to be raising the temperature anyway, you can take advantage of this by lowering the thermostat, thereby saving energy usage.

Get Rid of Dust

In addition to ensuring a clean air filter as suggested above, you need to get rid of as much dust in your home as possible in order to further improve the air quality. Start by cleaning carpets with a HEPA-equipped vacuum cleaner or sweeping wood floors on a regular basis. Follow that up with the use of microfiber cloths that will attract the dust on tables, appliances, and other places without simply spreading it around.

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
