HVAC Holiday Decorations

If you’re like most people, you’ve probably not given much thought to all the things you can do with HVAC components besides provide comfort to your home. But if you’re a little crafty and a little creative this holiday season, you can deck your whole house with Christmas decorations made from those odds and ends.

Here are some cool HVAC ornaments you can make at home.

Wreath

Take a length of dryer vent. Glue one end to the other, so it forms a ring. Spray paint it green, and decorate it with some pine cones, holly, and a big red bow at the bottom. Hang it on your front door, and it will be the first thing anyone mentions when they come to visit.

Snowman

Take three lengths of dryer vent, of slightly different sizes. Glue them into rings, like you did for the wreath. Spray paint them white (for added fun, use textured paint, to give them more of a snowy look). Put the biggest ring on the bottom, lying down flat. Glue the next biggest ring on top of it, and the smallest ring on top of that. Add three black buttons down the front, two eyes, a carrot nose, top hat, scarf, and whatever else you think your snowman needs.

Santa

Make three dryer vent rings and put them together, like you did for the snowman. Only paint the bottom two red instead of white. Add some white-colored batt insulation down the front for trim, and some more on the top ring, for a beard. Add a Santa hat and other details to complete the look.

Christmas tree

Take several lengths of dryer vent, each of slightly different sizes. The more you have, the bigger your tree will be. Glue them into rings and put the rings together as you’ve been doing, biggest to smallest. Spray paint them green. Add a star on top. Decorate with garland, beads, and other Christmas paraphernalia.
