Try These Cleaning Tips to Improve Your Spring IAQ

March 26, 2020 | Blog

Your indoor air quality is often in flux, but thanks to spring cleaning, you can get everything balanced again. We’d like to help you get started, so we’ve put together a quick list of cleaning tips that will make improving IAQ in spring a reality.

Get an Annual System Checkup

You should have every major piece of HVAC equipment checked out at least once a year — twice if possible. This will keep the system running efficiently and effectively, which will not only improve your overall comfort level but will also help maintain clean air.

Change the Filter Every 30 to 90 Days

When your system’s air filter is doing its job, it can get clogged up by dirt and debris very quickly. This can cause air-quality problems, because the filter will no longer stop contaminants and irritants from being distributed throughout your home. Check the filter once per month and change it as needed, which is usually every 30 to 90 days.

Look for Dust Everywhere

Dust gets kicked up from your carpet, counters, registers, events, and especially your ceiling fans. It is very important that you don’t neglect any of these areas. Also, be sure that you choose microfiber cloths over feather dusters, because they will capture the dust instead of spreading it around.

Use a Vacuum with a HEPA Filter

Vacuuming your home at least once per week will greatly reduce the amount of irritating particulates in the air, but a standard filter will only do so much. For maximum effect, use a vacuum cleaner that is equipped with a HEPA filter, which will remove 99.7% of contaminants.

Replace Carpet with Wood

Wood and laminate flooring used to be out of the ordinary, but in recent years, many households have been making the switch from carpets. This is because contaminants can hide within carpet fibers, whereas the same contaminants have nowhere to hide within wood or laminate flooring.

Great Company

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
