Unsure About Erratic Weather Patterns This Year? Texas Homeowners Need A Stand-By Generator More Than Ever

August 23, 2011 | Blog

Recent hurricane seasons have been active, and weather forecasters are predicting a greater-than-average hurricane season for 2011.  Recent natural disasters and erratic weather patterns have prompted many Gulf Coast residents to consider standby generators for their homes.  The American Red Cross includes generators as an important part of a homeowner’s disaster preparedness plan.

Far beyond an aggravation, the loss of power to your home can cause serious problems.  Food in your refrigerator and freezer will spoil; heating and air conditioning systems will not work; sump pumps will not be able to remove water from flooded areas of your home, and you’ll be left sitting in the dark… literally.  But adverse weather conditions are not the only contributors to leaving entire communities without power.

The Electricity Advisory Committee to the U.S. Department of Energy published an alarming report about our country’s insufficient power infrastructure.  Reliable delivery of electric power is not guaranteed to consumers for the next 20 years.  Without a standby generator, homeowners can be subjected to unexpected power outages for unknown periods of time.  You’ll be at the mercy of unpredictable weather and our own country’s deficient power grid.

But are generators affordable, and, if so, which one is best for you?  In recent years, advances in technology have made stand-by generators much more affordable.  Although portable generators are less expensive, the Red Cross advocates having a permanently installed generator.

In case of a power outage, a sensor on this generator will automatically detect the problem and will immediately begin supplying power to your home.  These generators also are generally tied into your natural gas or propane lines, so no need to worry about the messy process of refueling this equipment.  Different models also provide different amounts of power, from select circuits and purposes to whole-house electricity.

In Corpus Christi, CCAC, Inc. can help you prepare ahead of time – before bad weather hits – so that you won’t be sitting in the dark wondering when your power will be restored.  Please contact our team of experts with any questions you have about standby generators.

Our goal is to help educate our customers about energy and home comfort issues (specific to HVAC systems).  For more information about standby generators and other HVAC topics, download our free Home Comfort Resource guide.

Great Company

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
