Don't Just Install Your HVAC System. Design It For Your Unique Home

March 6, 2014 | Blog

Are you in the process of building or remodeling your Corpus Christi home? An important part of this process is choosing a good design for your new HVAC system. It takes a lot of forethought and load calculations in order to create energy-efficient and cost-effective HVAC design.

The three most important concepts to consider are:

  • Ensuring that new heating and cooling equipment is properly sized. A lot of homeowners make the easy mistake of installing oversized air conditioners that cannot properly dehumidify and are prone to premature breakdowns.
  • Ensuring that a good air distribution system exists in order to get the most comfortable amount of conditioned air to each of your home’s living spaces. Unfortunately, many contractors will cut corners on this important aspect of your HVAC system.
  • Ensuring load calculations are used to right-size your system and to create a comfortable and efficient home.

All of these concepts require an expert opinion. Consult with your NATE-certified contractor about professionally designing your HVAC system for highest efficiency. It is important to get accurate load calculations even if you are simply replacing old units. This is because either your original system may have been improperly sized to begin withand/or energy improvements or upgrades have been made to your home and have thus changed its heating and cooling loads.

To obtain accurate calculations for system design, your HVAC contractor will measure your home and evaluate its installed insulation, the amount and size of windows, air infiltration rate, the internal loads of electrical appliances, the efficiency of your current ductwork, the size and effectiveness of current grills and registers, and more. Your home works as an interdependent system and a good contractor will be able to take each of these unique aspects into consideration in order to give you the most accurate calculations. These accurate load calculations can thus be used to create a great overall system design and install appropriately sized equipment.

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
