Get an Energy Evaluation Before Summer Is Upon Us

June 5, 2014 | Blog

Let’s face it, the heat and humidity along the Coastal Bend can be downright unpleasant during the summer months. Even taking a dip into the Gulf waters seems short of perfect, so you head home and try to cool off in your air conditioned home. What probably isn’t crossing your mind is the potential energy loss that is occurring. Every little undetected gap in your home is a source of energy loss, which amounts to higher utility costs.

So why wait until summer to find out if you are losing money on cooling costs when there is a resolution now? Scheduling an energy evaluation with a professional HVAC company before summer can help you avoid unwelcome costs. A qualified technician should follow U.S. Department of Energy guidelines to inspect and test your home for energy loss in the following areas:

Insulation – The technician conducting the energy evaluation should inspect the insulation to ensure that it is sufficient enough for your home.

Duct Work – Air leaks in the ductwork can be a source of energy loss. Sealing the leaks in the ductwork should force cool air to flow into your home and not into the attic space.

Blower Door Test – During an energy evaluation this test is critical in locating where air leaks are happening. A technician will install a testing unit to an exterior door on your home, which will draw air from your home to create a low-pressure environment. The technician would perform either a “smoke-pencil” or thermographic imaging test to search for air leaks.

Thermographic Imaging – This device is used to search for surface temperature variations throughout the interior and the outer envelope of your home to appraise for air leaks.

Scheduling a complete energy evaluation with a respected HVAC company before summer arrives can help you make appropriate energy solution decisions for cost savings.

Great Company

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
