Do You Live in an Energy-Efficient Home?

April 30, 2015 | Blog

When it comes to saving money, energy efficiency is one of the most important factors you can consider enhancing in your home. Living in an energy-efficient home offers tremendous savings in the form of lower annual utility and maintenance costs. Keep in mind that an energy-efficient home should also provide maximum comfort throughout the year.

Here are some of the things you can do to make your home more energy-efficient:

  • Locate and seal air gaps: Cracks and gaps in windows, ducts and various joints throughout your home are major contributors to energy loss. Caulking and weatherstripping offer two surprisingly simple, yet effective ways to combat these losses. You should also inspect your ducts for any cracks or gaps that could allow conditioned air to escape elsewhere.
  • Add and improve your home’s insulation: Adding the right amount of insulation in your walls and attic helps reduce your home’s energy demands, while guaranteeing improved comfort. Additional insulation often pays for itself in as little as three and a half years.
  • Adjust your water heater: Dialing down your water heater’s thermostat by just a few degrees can help save energy without compromising your hot water needs.
  • Consider a programmable thermostat: Your HVAC system can benefit from a programmable thermostat. This simple device helps you set and store multiple settings for different times of the day, giving your home great comfort without wasting energy when you’re asleep or not at home.

Another option you should consider is replacing your current HVAC system with a more energy-efficient model. For example, replacing your current electric heater with a high-efficiency heat pump can drastically reduce your energy consumption and contribute to a more energy efficient home.

Great Company

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
