How to Get a Dust Problem Under Control

How to Get a Dust Problem Under ControlEver wonder why the air quality inside your home seems worse than the air quality outside? It could be due to a severe accumulation of dust. Heavy dust buildup can trigger a number of asthma and allergy symptoms, including itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and coughing. It can also build up within your HVAC system, making it harder to circulate clean air and heat or cool your home effectively.

Dust is an inevitable fact of life in the average Corpus Christi home, but that doesn’t mean you have to put up with it. Here are a few ways you can get a handle on your home’s dust problem:

  • Change your HVAC system’s air filter on a monthly basis. Regular air filter changes can prevent dust from circulating throughout your HVAC system.
  • Reduce air infiltration by sealing your home. Creating a well-sealed envelope by getting rid of gaps and cracks in outer walls, doors, windows, and other openings can help prevent dust from entering your home.
  • Seal duct air leaks. Cracks and gaps in your home’s ductwork can provide a gateway for dust and debris.
  • Mop and dust your home. Go over your hard flooring with a wet mop to get dust under control. Use a microfiber cloth to capture dust on shelves, tables, and other surfaces.
  • Vacuum your flooring regularly. Vacuuming your carpeting and other flooring can help cut down on dust buildup. Make sure to use a vacuum equipped with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filter. Don’t forget to empty your vacuum canisters or bags outside.
  • Have your clothes dryer vents professionally cleaned yearly. Dust can build up and obstruct the vents and hoses, potentially causing a fire hazard.
  • Change and wash your bed linens on a weekly basis. Your sheets and blankets can easily harbor dust and other unwanted debris.

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
