Clean or Replace Your Air Filter Every 1-3 Months

When your air filter gets dirty, your heating and cooling systems are forced to work harder to condition your air properly. These filters should be checked every 1-3 months and either changed or replaced as needed, depending on the type of filter the system uses.

Invest in an Upgraded Thermostat

If your home still has a manual thermostat or even a more recent model hasn’t been switched out in the past several years, then it might be time to trade it in. Upgrading to a programmable or smart thermostat is a great way to start the year off right.

Schedule Regular Cleanings of Your Home

If you want to improve the quality of your indoor air, then you’re definitely going to have to perform regular cleanings around the house. When you vacuum, be sure to use a vacuum cleaner equipped with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filter. For dusting, a microfiber cloth is best.

A traditional heating and cooling setup isn’t exactly the most efficient way to condition your household. The installation of a zoning system will allow you to split your home into sections and concentrate your heating or cooling efforts only in the are that need it, which saves energy and money.
